Have you ever installed a program onto your Windows computer, and then have problems with the way your computer works? My rule of thumb is if you have problems with the way your computer works, it is probably the last thing you did on it that caused the problem, such as installing a program.
Don’t you wish you can turn back the clock to before you had that problem? Well with Windows you can, I am talking about System Restore. You should make it a habit before you install any program in your Windows machine to create a System Restore Point so if you do have issues you can bring the computer back to the configuration it was before you install the program. Here is how you create a restore point. First you have to make sure system restore is turned on, by default it is, but to make sure click on Start/Control Panel/System/System Restore, make sure there is no check mark in the box that says “Turn Off System Restore” if there is than uncheck it, also the amount of disk space to allocate to system restore I would change to half by sliding the tab to the middle of the scale, than say apply and ok. Once you make sure that System Restore is turned on, go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools, click on System Restore, you will have an option to restore your computer to an earlier time or create a restore point, if installing any software select create a restore point, the program will ask you to name the restore point, for instance if installing AVG Antivirus, call the Restore point AVG Install.
Windows will then create a copy of your registry file to restore should your computer not work properly after the install. If you do have problems with the program, open up System Restore select Restore My Computer to an earlier time, a calendar will come up and display the dates a restore point was created and click on the name you called the restore point, the computer will reboot load the backed up registry and your computer is working like you did not make a change.
